LAGOS-NIGERIA-The Nigerian in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Africa in a productive interactive session yesterday in Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos State, has made case for a strong campaign and policy framework to boost the export of “Made in Nigeria” products and services” to the African continent.

Delta Uhuru Media (News Online) learnt this from NIDO Africa Chairman & Works renowned Professor of Information Communication Technology (ICT), Prof Jude Osakwe today being Saturday, May 31, 2025 shared a brief insight on the outcome of the well-attended event in Lagos by the Leadership of NIDO Africa.

Prof Osakwe told our reporter’ that the event brought together agricultural producers, manufacturers, and investors seeking to leverage NIDO Africa’s extensive network for international expansion.

Chairman of NIDO Africa, Professor Jude Osakwe who kicked off the session emphasized the need for organization’s commitment to facilitating export opportunities. The University DON also announced plans to establish dedicated marketing channels across various African countries, providing a crucial platform for Nigerian businesses to showcase and sell their products.

To this end, NIDO Africa Chairman noted that participants did not shy away from highlighting the significant challenges they face in the production and export landscape. NIDO Africa Chairman added that, as part if efforts towards deepening the interactive session, concerns were raised about the encroachment of foreign companies “swallowing” Nigerian products even within the domestic market.

Other factors raised as major huddles that hinders the possibilities of promoting exports and made in Nigeria products and services are: Exorbitant taxes and duties, complex policies and regulations. NIDO Professor Jude Osakwe then urged on the critical need to understand the specific demands and preferences of different African markets as he emphasized the importance of tailoring export strategies to maximize success.

The participants also lamented the crippling effect of high interest rates charged by banks, stifling growth in both the manufacturing and food production sectors. Insecurity, which prevents farmers from cultivating their land, and bureaucratic bottlenecks that further compound the challenges. According to Prof Osakwe, “key request from participants was for NIDO Africa to provide assistance in creating effective marketing channels and facilitating access to crucial funding forT investment. They believe these two elements are vital for scaling their operations and successfully navigating the complexities of the export market”.

Professor Osakwe who responded to the concerns on why Made in Nigeria products and services are crucial African Continent, reassured participants that NIDO Africa is ready towards providing individualized and collective support to help them achieve their export goals.He emphasized the organization’s dedication to working collaboratively with relevant government authorities to address systemic issues and create a more conducive environment for Nigerian exports to thrive.

Professor Osakwe said: “The interactive session concluded with a renewed sense of optimism, as participants felt empowered by NIDO Africa’s commitment to championing their interests and facilitating their access to the vast potential of the African market. The event marked a significant step towards unlocking the export potential of Nigeria and fostering economic growth through regional trade”.
