******NIDO Africa Secures Scholarship for Nigerian Children Stranded in Tunisia

Tunis, Tunisia – The Nigeria in Diaspora Organisation Africa (NIDO Africa), has successfully orchestrated the safe return of two young Nigerian children, Master Victor Chinaemerem Onwuepe (4) and Miss Blessing Adaeze Onwuepe (2), who were left stranded in Tunisia. Going a significant step further, the organization has also secured full scholarships for the siblings up to secondary school level, alongside a pledge to monitor their long-term growth and development.

The distressing plight of the Onwuepe children first emerged when their mother was apprehended by Tunisian authorities, leaving the toddlers in a vulnerable and precarious situation in a foreign land without immediate adult supervision or support. Their predicament quickly garnered the attention of NIDO Africa, which swiftly took up their cause.

NIDO Africa pursued the children’s repatriation with unrelenting persistence. The organization mounted a significant public outcry, relentlessly pressuring the Nigerian Embassy in Tunisia to act on behalf of its young citizens. This sustained advocacy ultimately prompted the Nigerian Embassy in Tunisia to reportedly act “reluctantly and clandestinely” to facilitate the children’s safe return to their homeland.

The extensive efforts culminated in the successful return of Victor and Blessing to Nigeria, where they have now been happily reunited with their grandparents. NIDO Africa expressed profound joy and relief at this development, emphasizing the critical importance of safeguarding the well-being of Nigerian nationals abroad, especially the most vulnerable.

Beyond their immediate rescue, NIDO Africa announced a substantial commitment to the children’s future. “We are happy to announce that the organisation has secured scholarship up to secondary school level for the children,” confirmed Ambassador Folaji Adura, the Public Relations Officer of NIDO Africa. The organization further pledged to “monitor the children’s growth from now on,” underscoring a long-term dedication to their welfare and educational advancement, ensuring they have the opportunity for a brighter future.

This intervention highlights NIDO Africa’s steadfast commitment to the welfare of Nigerians in the diaspora, particularly in times of crisis, ensuring not just their safety and immediate needs are met, but also their promising future is secured.
