*******As NIDO Africa Leadership Urges Foreign Affairs Ministry To Internene in Plight of Stranded Minors in Tunisia

LAGOS-NIGERIA- The Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) Africa, has issued a passionate appeal to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to urgently intervene in the case of two Nigerian minors who have been stranded in Tunisia for the past five months.
Delta Uhuru Media (News Online) learnt this in a press statement co-signed by the duo of NIDO Africa Chairman, Prof Jude Osakwe & NIDO Africa Spokesperson, Ambassador Foloja Adura today being Saturday, May 31, 2025 made available to some group of Journalists by in Ikeja, Lagos State capital as group leadership urges Foreign Affairs Ministry to rescue stranded Nigerian minors in Tunisia.
NIDO Africa stated that the children had remain unidentified to protect their privacy as they are currently being cared for by caregivers while their families in Nigeria anxiously await their return.
The leadership noted that, NIDO Africa is the umbrella organization for Nigerians living abroad. That NIDO Africa has been actively working to facilitate the minors’ repatriation. However, according to sources within the organization, efforts have been hampered by bureaucratic delays and bottlenecks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nigerian Embassy in Tunisia.
The press release by NIDO Africa leadership reads in parts: “We are deeply concerned about the welfare of these young children who are far from their families and in a vulnerable situation”.
“We understand that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the embassy are likely burdened with many requests, but we implore them to prioritize this case and expedite the process of bringing these children home.” Their tickets have been bought since January”.
“The families of the minors are prepared and eager to receive them, providing a loving and supportive environment that is significantly better than their current situation”.
“These children have families in Nigeria who are ready, willing, and able to care for them. Every day that passes is a day of unnecessary suffering and prolonged separation”.
“We urge the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to cut through the red tape and ensure their swift return. NIDO Africa hopes that this public appeal will bring the urgency of the situation to the Ministry’s attention and prompt swift action to resolve the matter”.
