Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) Africa, has lauded the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, for her crucial role in the recent repatriation of 231 vulnerable Nigerians from Ghana.
Delta Uhuru Media (News Online) learnt this today being Sunday, April 27, 2025 in a statement by Professor Jude Osakwe, Continental Chairman of NIDO Africa, as the organization’s leadership expresses “sincere appreciation” for Dr. Dabiri-Erewa’s roles towards repatriating these vulnerable Nigerians.
You could recall that recently Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chair of NIDCOM, recently went above and beyond her official duties by providing personal financial assistance to facilitate the safe return of 231 repatriated Nigerian citizens. According to NIDO Africa, “This act of compassion and dedication has been widely commended. Professor Jude Osakwe who lauded Abike’s actions as a powerful demonstration of a profound commitment to combating human trafficking and safeguarding the well-being of Nigerian citizens living abroad”.
Professor Osakwe stated that, this personal intervention underscores the level of dedication Dr. Dabiri-Erewa has to ensure the protection and safe return of vulnerable Nigerians trapped in exploitative situations.
The press statement by Professor Jude Osakwe, a Professor of Information Technology, reads in parts: “First, NiDO Africa is appreciative of the roles you played in supporting the repatriated vulnerable Nigerians from Ghana recently. We recognize the considerable effort and dedication required to coordinate such a complex operation”.
“And we are deeply appreciative of your exceptional leadership and compassion. Your actions have provided a much-needed lifeline to these individuals and have reaffirmed your commitment to protecting and supporting Nigerians in the diaspora.”
“NIDO Africa commends your proactive measures taken, aimed at preventing human trafficking and supporting the welfare of Nigerians living abroad. The organization believes these efforts are vital in combating the increasing problem of human trafficking and ensuring the well-being of the diaspora community”.
The leadership also commended Dr. Calistus Elozieuwa for his commitment to the fight against human trafficking and further acknowledged the resolve of NIDO Ghana members in tackling this issue within their community.
NIDO Africa in the release reaffirmed its commitment to working collaboratively to combat human trafficking, pledging to “do all it takes to fight this menace. Professor Osakwe, stated further that NIDO Africa sees this collaboration with NiDCOM and other stakeholders as essential in protecting vulnerable Nigerians and creating a safer environment for those living and working abroad.
