The Chairman, Chief Ovo Edewor Foundation, Chief OVo Edewor Ogheneovo, has enjoin Nigerians to show love and support to the widows and widowers of our fallen heroes, service men for the immeasurable sacrifices they made towards building a greater Nigeria.

Vanguard learnt this from Urhobo born world renowned philanthropist, humanitarian and community development expert today being Tuesday, April 8, 2025 in a press statement made available to some group of Journalists in Asaba, Delta State capital as he stated that their sacrifices is a great inspiration to us all.

The statement by Chief Dr. Edewor Ogheneovo reads in parts: “Daily, men and women in the Military, Police, Army, Navy, Airforce and Secret Service put their lives on the line just to secure our great nation.
These fallen heroes exemplifies bravery and selflessness and should serve as inspiration to us all, and it is therefore essential that we show our appreciation for our service men”.

“One way to do this is by supporting the widows and widowers of our fallen heroes not just during festive seasons but consistently. The loss of a loved one is never easy, and for widows and widowers of service men and women, the pain can be particularly acute.They often face challenges, including financial struggles, emotional trauma, and the responsibility of raising their families alone”.

“We as a nation should not rely solely on the government to support our heroes; and like we say in the Chief Ovo Edewor Foundation “Every Little Good Deed helps. I believe that there are many ways we can show our love and support for the widows and widowers of our fallen service men and women in Nigeria especially during economically challenging times”.

“Providing financial support can help alleviate some of the burdens faced by them. Offering emotional support, such as counseling or simply being a listening ear, can be incredibly helpful. Engaging with local communities to raise awareness and show support for widows and widowers can make a significant difference”.

“Providing practical assistance, such as childcare or household help, can be a huge relief for them. All measure of help and assistance to them, no matter how small, makes a huge difference. Several organizations provide support to widows and widowers of fallen service men and women in Nigeria; these organizations offer various forms of assistance, including financial aid, emotional support and advocacy”.
