A Statement of Intent to Contest for the Governorship of Delta State.
My fellow Deltans, determined to pay the debt of gratitude I owe our continent (Africa) for the opportunities to serve in the esteemed office of
public trust; determined to let our state drink from the deep well of experience acquired in this office, I Ambassador Efeoghene Ekure
with great humility, hereby submit myself for
your kind consideration as your next Governor.
As I pay tribute to heroes and heroines of our great state for work done so far,
I stand strong to bring hope and
direction to the people of Delta State, to provide people centered governance, and passion to fight corruption with
uncompromising zeal, ready to touch the lives of Deltans meaningfully via youth and woman empowerment, realistic social security, sound educational system, infrastructural development, culture and tourism, superior and Working health system, uncompromising judicial system as well as robust investment in agricultural development just to mention but a few.
Delta state is a highly favoured and blessed state and it’s citizenry deserve far more than they are experiencing today. With the allocation that comes monthly, our children should have no need migrating in search of greener pastures in lands that are not as green as ours. Our children should not graduate from school and be riding motorbikes or tricycle popularly known as Keke. We deserve a better life than that.
It is most unfortunate that the politicians we voted for to protect and create enabling environment for us to thrive have become our collective nightmares and woes as their actions and inactions have created a paradox of poverty in the midst of plenty for us as a blessed people. Today we hear of billions coming into the state monthly but a very few persons share it amongst themselves as though the state is their exclusive right and property.
It is the force of pain and lamentation steming from the suffering of my good people of Delta state, it is from the crying voices of hopelessness, hunger, injustice, insecurity and economic deprivation of our people, my ambition to become the next governor resonates.
I have come with special keys to unlock for our people, their true freedom, rights and privileges : to good life, to all round prosperity , to justice and good governance.
Keys to secure lives and properties; to make unity the touchstone of our Statehood and to invigorate our economy, to prosper our
citizenry and promote democracy.
Today, I stand firm
offering my humble self for service to our dear State because I believe that together we can make Delta State the cynosure of
global interest and an African economic lion. There is nothing the Asian tigers have, in terms of human and material resources, that we do not have.
l shall give our traditional institutions a voice in the functionality and maintenance of peace in our dear state.
Together we will overcome every challenge. Together we will defeat every Goliath.
Together we will turn our mourning
into dancing again.

“Give me but one firm spot on which to stand and I will move the earth”
