Amb Efe Ekure, a leading governorship aspirant in Delta State on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, recently was given a heroic reception, cheering and commendations by faithful of the party and some members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and that those of The All Progressive Congress, APC.
In his recent exclusive interview with a renowned media team, the Pan Africaine and The Internationally celebrated Nigerian Youth Leader bares his mind on his plans to take Delta State to a global destination among other issues.
*It is another season of political jamborees, and you know that the people of Delta State have been deceived, fooled, and shot changed, what do you have for the people?
Prosperity! In a nutshell, I am coming to eradicate poverty, ensure healthcare, education, social security, and create employment. So when I say prosperity, these are the kind of things I have for the people.
*People are of the opinion that this is another political nosedive especially on the ground that you are not coming through the platform of the PDP, and what is your plan should ADC fail you?
I don’t know about any nosedive, PDP is the one nose-diving. I started my political ambition in PDP and at a point I got fed up with their Political lies, Poor Administrations, Corrupt Practices, Discrimination among others, there were also instances of cacus power tussle and political rancour so I left. It is all about my people and emancipating my people, not the current emasculation of the people. PDP was just a vehicle.
*You seem to be so passionate about the people, so very passionate about serving the people. What is your drive for this optimism?
When I look at the wanton waste in the last 23 years of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP stay in power in my dear state of Delta, it would take an unconscionable person not to be interested and passionate about emanacipating Deltans.
For instance, His Excellency, Chief James Onaefe Ibori built all the roads, developed all the industries here, he employed all the youths, You and I know that all the politicians we have today in Delta State are his products, however, I came from the Youth struggle, I am a product of continuous advocacy for an upright society and Youthful Engagements, I rose from a humble background.
Going further, there is no state institution today that is employing 70 people, no parastatal that employs 50 people at a stretch in Delta. So why won’t I be angry and become Passionate? My quest is to serve my people, imagine that pensioners salaries has not been paid, the civil service has been destroyed. I come with a great experience.
*The way you are talking is like you are crying for the people…
Yes, I still remain one of the biggest Youth leader, silent philanthropist and goal-getter in the state. I have never done government work. I have never done a government contract, yet carry on the yearnings and aspirations of my dear deltans especially the Youths more than those in the corridors of power.
There is a lot of work to do. There are things we need to fix up urgently. There is no noticeable project in the state. Some years back, Delta used to be home to many foreign companies, especially the cities of Warri and Asaba, but years after, there are no more companies, they’ve all packed to more developed states, because of the evils PDP and the host of other parties are doing to my dear state of Delta.
Given this, There would be an Industrial Revolution when I come into power, don’t bother asking how? I know how to do it. I have partners waiting who can do it. They have numerously done it before. I came with a very rich scorecard, forget about the age, I am experienced, not just experienced, but very importantly, I know how to do it.
*You are leaving your comfort zone to be running in a party that is seriously emasculated, so are you going to be comfortable moving from your comfort to where sometimes we have power outages and insecurity?
Yes. I have to leave my comfort zone because of the plight of my people. At 35 years I have rose to be one of the biggest and Successful Youth leader in Delta. I have employed over 1000 Youth worldwide, There is so much going on in the state that I don’t know or the people don’t know. I am coming to make progress.
*Today appears to be your judgment day. Today you have gone into a serious covenant with Delta State people in very specific terms what should they do to you if you fail to deliver?
I went into this covenant the first day I showed my face so it’s not even today and that is why I said when I saw the hanky panky PDP are playing because I have committed myself to the liberation of Deltans, that is why I decided to run in a time like this, and also come entirely through another Party, The ADC.
So if somebody has been selling rice and stew in Asaba and they want to give him ticket, that is their business. I have a rich pedigree with international experience, international relations and a very solid fan base made of intellectual consummates and well-refined, self made Youths, so I will definitely win the elections defeating PDP and APC.
*Of all the people that have come out to declare their intentions, you seem to have a better offer and a very high profile, why didn’t you come out earlier?
I am a very simple man and action speaks louder than words.
My action will tell people who I am, what I am and how I am. So I came as at my people needed most.
I am the next “GOVERNOR” of Delta State, I have the experience, exposure, capacity to rescue Delta State. Thank you.
