Dr. Mrs Minnie Oseji, a Public Health Consultant, Community Physician, Health Services Researcher, and Permanent Secretary, Delta State Ministry of Environment has advocated for the Promotion of Gender Equality by breaking the natural barriers created and stereotyping of Women as weak and unproductive persons in the society.
Dr. Mrs Minnie Oseji who doubles as the Coordinator, “The Oseji Foundation For Transparency And Community Development” made this disclosure yesterday in a press statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday being on 8th march, 2022 during the Celebration of International Women’s Day in her office at Asaba, Delta State capital.
The Executive Director, Public Health Impact Research Centre, and immediate past President, Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria, MWAN enjoined Nigerian Lawmakers and other critical stakeholders to develop and implement policies that promote educational and economic empowerment of women.
In the words of Dr. Mrs Minnie Oseji, the Medical Director, Berachah Community Clinic, Asaba: “We challenge negative stereotypes of Women created by natural and man-made factors. Natural because of the restrictions brought about through bearing and rearing of Children”.
“Man-made factors by stereotyping all Women as weak and unproductive persons; temptresses as persons to be objectified. This stereotyping negates achievements of several Women who have been outstanding in their careers and service to humanity”.
“We are Advocating for development and transparent implementation of policies that promote Educational and economic empowerment of Women”.
“We reassure our people, the society that Women are not competitors with men but equal partners in achieving progress for their respective communities. Always remember that all men and women are born of Women!”
